Hi,
I installed Windows 7 Home Premium x64 yesterday & when I tried to install the drivers via the 'upgrade assistant disc' after, it just goes straight to saying my windows 7 upgrade was successful (even though I did a clean install), without giving any prompt or option to install the drivers.![]()
So, I downloaded the following Drivers from Dell's website and now I'm wondering what order to install them in and if I'm missing any vital ones.
1. Audio
2. Bios
3. Chipset
4. Input Device (Touchpad)
5. Dell Quickset
6. Video Drivers.
** I saw no option to download Notebook System Software in the win7 drivers page. **
Finally, how do I tell what model / manufacturer made my slot load DVD drive, as Dell gives many different choices for drivers.
All input/help/advice is greatly appreciated,
Thanks.![]()

On the Drivers and Downloads site Dell has a link to its "How To Install Drivers" which gives the correct order. Windows 7 is bloody wicked when it comes to drivers, everything on my 1555 worked straight away, I just got the Dell ones for my touchpad. (And BIOS..)
Here's the link for the install order:
