I might buy a new Dell 710M from someone locally as my first laptop.

I have a few quick questions.

For the wireless card, what's the difference between:

Dell Wireless 1390 (802.11b/g 54 Mbps) Mini Card
    and
    Dell Wireless 1370 Internal Wireless (802.11b/g, 54Mbps)?

Is 1370 wireless good? fast? stable?

I've also seen some other dell 700m/710m with different wireless like Intel instead of Dell. Is there much of a difference?

One more thing, aside from internet and school, I plan to plug the 710M with the AC adapter and watch .avi/.rm videos on my laptop while connecting it through the S-video port to the S-video of my widescreen TV.

Will this be ok? Will the image on my TV be the same as on the 710m?
Will there be much heat while playing videos/shows on the laptop while watching on the TV?

    Thanks

    For the S video part:

TVs don't have the high resolution of the notebook nowadays, and that's why movies that appear to be pixelated in your notebook plays fine on a TV.

As for the wireless, the first is an internal card, whereas the second one would be something external that goes into the PCMCIA or the Express card slot.

I would like to recommend you avoid that laptop unless you are getting a REALLY good deal on it. That thing is like 3 years old. You would be buying something that is already pretty out of date, I can't believe Dell is still selling it

Generally I would recommend going with an internal wireless card. If you go with the 1390, then you'll have something sticking outside of your laptop. Second thing is that the 1370 covers more ranges of wifi, but 90% of the time, you'll be on a b/g network. I rarely see an a-type network

I'm not really sure which is better as far as Intel or Dell. They both seem to have their problems. It really depends on what intel card is offered. The complaints about Dell is that you only can connect to routers within a short distance, and with Intel you get frequent drops.

[edit] Dell stopped selling it but I'm guessing that they still have some left in stock and offereing it in the Outlet section.
