Questions about dell e1505

I am having some problmes with my dell e1505 can you help me please

- my resolution is not that good the pictures and the task bar icons look odd and i have a ati raden x1400 video card and uxga true life lcd

- i am having some problmes with my network concectios:
i have a concection named 1394, that is a net adapter, i dont know what is for, Do i have to keep it?

when conecting to internet with wirless conection i have problem doing it in my house. It say that it dont recognize my ip, and whe it tries to renew it, it fails.


- i ordered a intel duo core, but when i turn it on it says only intel centrino, and the sticker says intel centrino, how i can know if it is really intel duo

- i need to make my pc faster, and i know i have to reinstall windows, but i live in guatemala and can order my reinstall disk, so what else i can do? what things i can unistall and what not.

To find your cpu, click start>run, and type dxdiag into the box. Run it. You will see your processor displayed. Alternatively, open control panel and click on system.

 

it could just be that you're not used to wide screen, what problem is it specifically? are there artifacts? is the picture grainy? light leakage? you need to describe more specifically

so the router doesn't recongize your ip? or your laptop can't find a wireless connection?

a core duo is the 4th generation centrino so it is a core duo

i'm guess you CAN'T order your windows xp disk. you'd really have to list the programs thats on your laptop for one to know which can be uninstalled and are bloat ware

i also recommend a program called "CCleaner" this will clear old registry and temp file and other crap, thus called crap cleaner helps make the computer faster

also do a defragmentation with software like "disk keeper pro" which can even defrag boot sector data to allow for faster booting up and file accessing on your HD

 

screen:

1. run in native resolution
2. set dpi to 96
3. enable cleartype

 

i dont know how to decribe i think is the resolution, the icon looks like blurry and the pics too like they were zoomed too much.


i dont know if the router is the issue, beacuse only in my house i have problmes with the wirelees concetion, it concets and disconcets frecuently, and the pc has 2 users but in the other user it doesnt reconginze the ip and cannto conect.

i think you're just not used to the wide screen resolution of 1280x800. the blurry can be because of the low res or something wrong with your LCd you should post a pic

have you tried it near the router to see if it's the signal problem? my room is like an iron shell and i when i get bad signal, it disconnects and reconnects constantly too. not too sure about the "doesn't recognize ip"

you can basically delete anything except the drivers of the laptop and even if you do you can always use system recover fucntion of the laptop

 

my resolution is 1680*1050. Its like when i put a smilye
i dont see completly the circule i looks like the circle i like cut not a perfect cricule. Could it be that i dont have the lastest video drivers?
My Ati catalys doesnt opne what i can do?

 

The best way to see if it is really Intel Centrino Duo, is to see if you have a Core Duo by going to your task bar and seeing if you can set affinities. Well, it may be the easiest.

Catalyst control center won't open unless you have installed the Microsoft .NET framework.

 

hey i made a new thread, but I had a really quick question as I am about to purchase a e1505, does the screen have a grainy kinda washed out appearance to it, especially noticeable in the white and green areas?

I had a very similar (exactly as you described it) problem with my 7900gs and nvidia drivers the first time I OC's my Video Card. I restarted a couple of times then left it on for an hour or two and all of the sudden it started seeing the display options. Hopefully you have a similar 'magical' experience. If it ever worked, try a system restore to the time it did work. Also, as soon as you get it working, uninstall and download the drivers from dells site. Good Luck!

 

Look man, i live in El Salvador and don't dell for your power dvd or sonic disc, they'll tell you that they installed only demo versions of those in your laptop so they can't send you the discs. When I told them that it was the full version, that I'm not a fool and that I knew that I have paid for the license o those programs they told me that they send me the laptop in perfect conditions and it was under my own risk to be playing around with it, such as reformatting!!! I even have a three year warranty! I don't know what happens if you ask them for your windows cd.

 

I downloaded the lastet drivers (lastest catalyst), but i still have the problem the icons and the pic looks like they were too zoomed, and the catalyst center doent open.
I have my setting in 120 dPi 1650*1050, 32 bits color.
I have changed everthing, any other ideas were it could be the problem??
