I am looking at getting a lower-end Dell and then passing it on to my Mom after a couple of months. She would prefer to have a laptop that, if there is a problem while under warranty, she could just drop off at the local Best Buy. (Me, I want someone showing up at my door next day to fix it, but that's just me. :p She prefers mail-in to someone showing up at her door.)

Anyway, I was wondering what the Dell process for warranty service is? Call and have them try to fix over the phone, and then if it doesn't work do they send you a shipping label/box/whatever...then you drop it off at the post office? Postage paid? Also, what kind of turn-around time would be *average* for this kind of service? I know, a tough question, but are we talking weeks, or months here for run-of-the-mill type problems?

    Thanks!
