I've got an e1505 and am planning to format it with a clean install of XP using SG's guide at the top of the forum. However, as an extra precaution before I do anything I just wanted to ask a few more questions.

I wanted to make a backup but couldn't understand or find where on that site to do it. What do I need to burn so that I can have a backup in case I ever need to run the Dell System Restore? I want to be able to delete that partition when I format my laptop but also have a backup on CD just in case.

Regarding partitions, if I plan to keep the Diagnostics partition so that Media Center will still function, I can go ahead and delete all the other ones? And if so, would I be putting XP on a new partition? So in the end, I'd have two partitions: the original Diagnostics partition and the new one with XP on it, right?

I'm not sure how to do it. You'll probably have to use some backup software such as acronis

    Yes, that it correct.
