I'm considering the D630 or the M2300, and I was hoping others who have these machines could give me some feedback on a couple of items.

    1) How well does the pointing stick work (if you use it)? I've loved the way it was implemented on ThinkPads in the past and was wondering if Dell managed to do it as well.

    2) How do you like the battery sticking out the front? That is just an unexpected design, and I'm not yet sure what to think about it.

    3) How do these machines perform? I will be multi-tasking some very processor/ram/network-intensive apps, and I'm curious how they would handle them compared to, say, a T61 or even some of the comparably spec'ed consumer lines from Dell and other OEMs.

    1) The touch sticks are bad . . . worse than HPs, but I never really liked using them alot so I don't care.
    2) Its a little odd, but if you stick with the 6-cell you won't have that problem.
    3) They perform as well as any other machine with the same equipment.
