Hi there,
I'm about to buy my very first Laptop. Due to all the positive feedback of friends and of the community as a whole along with good ratings, I decided to buy a Dell. To be exact, a Dell XPS M1210, since 12.1" is a must for me![]()
However, there are still two small questions:
- I saw that there are many price reducing coupons around, which would make me save a whole lot of moneyNow since I live in Austria, I wondered if these coupons work for my country as well, or if there are similar things for my region.
- Seeing that the XPS series exists for about a year by now (correct me if I'm wrong), I wondered if Dell announced a follow-up of the XPS-series already. Considering how popular the XPS series is, there indeed would be no need for Dell to do so already, but still - I would regret buying a laptop when there is a follow-up version about to be sold![]()
Thanks in advance.

Dell's coupons are U.S. only.
Santa Rose appears to be coming out on May 25 from what I've seen in the news section, which will be the next upgrade. I'd imagine Dell intends on upgrade the M1210, but I doubt they will announce the Santa Rose version until early May, maybe late April at the earliest . If you wish to wait until then I would just be patient. This version will probably have other upgraded bells and whistles to. Usually Dell seems to be one of the first to update there products and in Austia your in luck because the new models always seem to show up in Asia and Europe weeks ahead of the U.S. =P ...However if you need a notebook now I don't think you would be missing to much to go ahead and get your new M1210.

You have to also take into consideration the price increase the "new" notebook would have. Since it's going to be a new 12.1" screen, it's going to be more expensive. Then you have to figure in the price of the Santa Rosa platform. You're probably looking at a notebook that is at least $500 more than the current M1210. This is just pure speculation.

I doubt that a Santa Rosa platform XPS will be $500 more. Maybe $100, Dell's pretty good at upgrading to new hardware when it comes out without raising prices (at least for the XPS line).
Dell coupons are only for the US. Also, there aren't Dell coupons for XPS, although they do occasionally have deals like a free printer.
(Ironically, I'm using a Dell XPS m1210 to type this up

Santa Rosa will be expensive when it first comes out, and it probably will be alot more than $100. Supply will be very limited, and only a few notebooks will have options for the platform. After a few weeks, the price will begin to decrease, but it will take time, as the supply increases for the components.

100 dollars? You're joking right?
a new design laptop, means paying the design team to do it too...
Why would they even bother?
