    Hi all,

    that's my first thread!

I just sold my Macbook pro so now I'm back on PC.

I'll get an Inspiron 6400 and I got some questions:

    1-display options:
    -XGA (free)
    -WXGA+ (40$)
    -SXGA+ (125$)

No big deal to go on WXGA+... It's just 40 bucks. But is there a significant dirrefence between XGA vs WXGA+ and WXGA+ vs SXGA+. I know this is all about res but for a 15.4'', wich one do you recommend?

    2-HD options:
    -160gig 5400rpm
    -100gig 7200rpm (60$)

Big difference between these rmps? Dell says that 7200 compare to 5400 can enhance start-up time by 18%...?? Who wins between a 1800rmp gain (+60$) and a 60gig loss?

3- Someone got the remote controle (50$)? Can it makes the labtop working as a dvd player? What are the functions on this remote?

4-Warranty CompleteCare: Does-it really covers everything? If I accidently walk on it, it's covered?

Thank you all for your help. I know there's a lot of questions but I want to be sure before buying! (sorry for my poor english.. I'm french canadian..)

    1) I'd get WSXGA+ personally...best screen I've ever had.
    2) The performance between those two drives are nearly identical...I own both and cannot tell the difference. Get the 160GB.
    3) Pause, Play, Stop, Mute, Volume Up/Down...you get the idea.
    4) Not that you would walk on it...but yes, as long as it was an accident you're covered.

I agree with these. The WSXGA+ screen is great. Thought it was an included upgrade on mine when I bought it. I have not seen the WXGA+ though, but the higher resolution so far has been a plus.

I have the 80 gig 7200rpm. I do not have any speed/read issues, but it would be nice to have 160gb.

I have the remote and love it. It works pretty far away and through walls. The functionality is pretty basic, but it's great for WINAMP, Media Player, or other media players that support the universal keys (next track, etc.). For DVD's it's ok, but one button that is missing is the "menu" button. All the rest work great.

The remote fits into the Express slot, but does stick out a bit making it easier to remove. Still keep this in mind.

If you do get the remote and have any funky problems with Media Direct where it launches Dell MD every time you click a button then you may need this patch:

    Hope this helps
