I just received a refurbed M1210 which I bought off Fleabay (couldn't pass it up, I got aa helluva a deal!). I plugged in the lappy as soon as I opened it figuring I'd have to charge the battery.

I noticed right away, the power light and cpu light work, however, the battery light has never lit up. Does it stay off if the battery is fully charged and running on A/C?

The manual says it is solid green when the battery is charging, flashing green when it is almost charged. Then When running on battery off with an adequate charge, flashing orange with a low battery, and solid orange when the battery is critically low.

I have not yet unplugged the lappy and tried running on battery to see if the light works or ot, I'm just curious now, and probably jumping the gun for no reason.

Yes. If the light is off and you are running on AC then that means that the battery is fully charged. You can confirm the reading by going to the Power Options control panel applet in Windows and looking at the Power Meter tab.

Yep that is how it works. Sometimes it will flash once every few minutes or something whenever it starts to get fully charged, so just think of it as the longer the light stays off, the more charged your battery is.

In the time it (collectively) took you to type your message, had you just unplugged the AC charger and run down your battery for a few minutes, you could have answered your own question!! :D

Ummm, not really, because I had my notebook unplugged for about 2-2.5 hours yesterday before I got the low battery warning and the light actually came on. Only took me about a minute or two to type the message with the question.

Thanks to those that answered, it set my mind at ease until I figured out it worked!

Your statement above was the source of my comment. You hadn't even tried running down the battery for a few minutes to see if the battery light worked!

That was my point, but hey, looks like you answered your own question!
