About 99% of the laptops today come with what's called a Kensington lock slot.

It's a narrow slot, used for Kensington (and other manufacturer) cable and alarm locks.

I'd be surprised if all Dell's didn't come with the Kensington slot, but being I don't own one, I'd recommend you ask someone who owns one of these laptops, or call Dell (or go to their website. I know HP mentions it as a feature when they list what each computer comes with)

By the way, I'd suggest you get a strong, cable lock over the lock you have linked to. I previously purchased one of these locks, but I find a strong cable lock probably provides more security, and I ended up getting one of those (Targus Defcon CL Ultra Max, over 4,000 lb breaking point)

Any lock can be bypassed, but the alarm type, if they cut the wire and quickly drop it into water, it's disabled.

The wire on the alarm model is VERY thin. The cable on the Defcon (and other cable type locks) is very strong... again, both can be bypassed, but I feel the cable type would take much more time, and would really require some decent bolt cutters.

Found it at Fry's, for $35, less $10 mail in rebate, $25.

Awesome Shel - I think I'm gonna go with the Targus Defcon CL (not Ultra Max). I can't seem to find a good deal on the ultra up here in Canada. But just to make sure, could someone confirm that the e1505/6400 has a lock slot?

Yeah when Chriscabob said it was on the right side, I looked at it and couldn't find it, but I think I found it on the left side as well. Is it that tall hole between the fan vent and the optical drive?

there is a kensington lock slot on the left side near the optical drive and it does fit that targus defcon 1 alarm (i have one myself) and you get a long metal thing that slots in it with holes you put the cable through for it :)
