I just received a "broken" Inspiron 600m, which I promptly tried to figure out what the problem was...

    thank goodness for memtest :D

Anyways, what kind of ram does this thing use? If someone could be kind enough to show me a newegg link with the correct specification, I'd def, rep +1 for you. I just always get confused with the type of RAM different laptop uses.

Here's a link to what this laptop looks like:

    TIA!

that particular laptop has two different configs.....so it is hard to say for sure. If you could tell us the service tag on it that would be helpful....

from the manual for the 600m:
with a maximum memory amount of 1 gig....so that means

    either here for 2100

    or here for 2700

Thanks again, 1GB max?? dang...I was hoping for at least 2GB total, 1GB in each slot...possible?

EDIT: right now, the laptop has 2x@256mb ram sticks, is it possible for me to put in 1gb and (1) 256mb stick in there?

It'll support 1GB in each slot, 2GB max.
