I currently own the Studio 14 laptop running on Vista Home Basic 32-bit. I have this problem with missing blue volume as well as brightness bar. In fact, the Wi-Fi catcher that runs on Quick Set is not working....
My problem is that the QuickSet wouldn't run itself during windows startup eventhough it is enabled in Windows Defender and MSConfig. I really got no idea how can this be happening. Now, I have to manually click on the QuickSet.exe to enable the bars and function. Imagine something automatic now to be done manually. Cumbersome!
Any idea and suggestion on how to fix this?
Thanks in advance.

You can add a shortcut of the .exe file to your startup folder in programs to make it start on its own, though i'm sure that the original installation would have implemented this differently.
Did you by any chance change the the programs that start up automatically in msconfig? -
Tried the startup folder thing but it won't start as well. I just did system restore to restore to previous point. Usually it works but now it doesn't. I just uninstall and reinstall it. Don't think i got touch the msconfig...

Then it might be something in msconfig that got unchecked. Just hit win+r, put in msconfig, hit enter. the system configuration utility should come up. Go to the startup tab, and look for quickset in that list. If it's unchecked, recheck it, hit apply, and reboot.

My Quickset is definitely installed and running, but while the keyboard indicators and screen brightness show up onscreen, the volume and Wifi indicators don't.

I haven't installed quickset, but all the buttons work. Naturally though, i get no screens. I kind of liked the screens on this, so I probably will reinstall.

Are you running Windows 7 - as I believe there is an issue with some of the icons in Windows 7 RC. Think I read that they were resolved with the RTM version
-
Yes I am - Release Candidate, not RTM. Since I want to do fresh installs when my upgrades arrive, I don't fancy swapping the RC for RTM. I can live without the onscreen for now. My ears can tell me when the volume is higher or lower.

Yup, I made that same decision too. October is going to take ages to get here because I'm waiting for my copy of Windows 7....
