    Hi,
I am having a problem with Dell Quickset on my computer - I seem to not be able to actually open the Quickset window to configure it, as there is not icon in the taskbar, and when double click the icon for the actual program, nothing happens. I am trying to configure it because sometimes, it doesn't seem to work - when I change the volume, keyboard backlight etc, there is no on screen display, Quickset as a process has to be stopped from the task manager window and then restarted for this to work. Also, on occasion, it can take up 30-50% of the CPU, for no apparent reason. I have installed the latest version and tried uninstalling and reinstalling - nothing works.

    Thanks in advance.

Have you tried right-clicking the icon?

    Thanks for the reply.

As I mentioned in the post, there is no icon in the taskbar - there has never been since I first recieved the laptop. The Quickset application is set to start with the computer too, if that is of any use.

    Thanks

So Quickset does actually start when the computer starts, correct?
FYI, on my Dell Studio 1537, if I click on the Quickset Icon (not in the taskbar for me as well), it just brings up Windows Mobility Center, not another, seperate application for Quickset.
Also, depending on what application you are working in, sometimes the Quickset icons do not appear. For example, I am in Internet Explorer right now, and if I try to change the brightness, the pop-up does not appear. But, if I minimize IE and am just on the desktop, it shows up.
    Hope this helps!

That is weird. My installation of Quickset does not have these quirks, though I did perform a fresh reformat.

Yes, mine does exactly the same. I find that if I end the process and then resart Quickset, the OSD comes up all the time for a few minutes. Also, I get mobility centre on trying to open quickset. AND, I've also noticed that the WiFi catcher only opens if you are in the Desktop.

Must just be a quirk of the software, rather than something untoward - just a bit annoying.

Ok i had a similar problem and i solved it by completely uninstalling Quicket. however when you re-install it . MAKE SURE you use the service tag code to find the exact version that orginally came or a message will come up , saying that the operating system is NOT supported

    Thanks:D
