I don't understand why when I adjust the brightness via the Fn + Arrow keys the brightness status shows up near the bottom right of the screen, yet when I adjust the volume via the volume keys the status shows near the top of the screen. I think that the statuses should display consistently in the same place.
Am I the only one experiencing this?
I am running QuickSet 8.2.14 if that matters.

Hey bud. Believe it or not, the answer is pretty simple.
Use Quickset to adjust your brightness or volume, and when the Quickset OSD displays, you can drag it with your cursor just like any other window.
Yay.Have fun.

people don't automatically uninstall dell apps? huh, interesting.
-
Hehe, of all the Dell apps, I leave Quickset. Nothing wrong with a little OSD sexiness.
-
I have dragged the status "windows" but every time I restart it's back to where it was.
I keep QuickSet for the on screen display of volume, display and I like some of the functionality like seeing available wireless networks when I hit the wifi-finder button. -
Really? Wow, news to me. In both of my Windows environments (XP Pro & Vista Home Premium) that does the trick. Sorry it didn't work for you, I guess I got a bit arrogant and optimistic too soon.
When I get home, I will check my Quickset version and get back to you. -
I have the same quickset version and the trick is to finish your dragging/repositioning before the status window disappear. If you still in the middle of the drag, then it will revert back into the previous position. I have not try a restart to see if the position would be retained or not. -
One would think that Dell would make it that simple. I even went through the trouble of editing the registry, I found the VolumeX and VolumeY positions, but every time QuickSet starts up, it returns to its previous values.

I have exactly the same thing. The audio is at teh top left of the screen all the time. Iv'e tried daragging it down to where the brightness one is but it always reverts back to the top left :s. I'd given up caring about it but if you find a solution would be great

It used to be a simple drag and drop, but I think there is a bug in the latest version causing this...
-
frazell: which version are you currently running?
-
8.2.14 - all well here...
Also worked perfect on my old i5160 running a crazy old version :| -
OP is right, after restarting, mine goes back to where it was
-
Who would we contact/notify at dell about the issue? It seems like a bug.
