I ordered the Carbon Fiber quick snap for my E1705. When i received my laptop, it came with the carbon fiber quick snap already on the laptop. I did not get the regular silver default cover that is supposed to come with the laptop. I think that is pretty stupid of Dell, they should have included the silver one so that I could switch when I felt like it. Can I call Dell and ask them to send me a silver one?

it is just a cover. It is not the actual lid. You can remove it. If you look near the lid hatch hooks (top of the display), you'll see exactly where the groove is. You have to use your fingers or a sharp object (i recommend fingers so you don't damage your display) and gently force the quicksnap from the groove.

It takes a while to learn how to remove it, but it really is fairly easy.
