I am sad, my 3 yrs old 6400 died after my premium care finished, failed to get the bootup screen load...

Is there anyway to self-repair it? or maybe i shd move on and get a new one?

Make sure everything is seated properly. Re-seat the RAM sticks in their slots, as well as the wireless cards. You might also want to re-seat the CPU and reapply fresh thermal compound on the heatsink. Check to make sure that all cables are firmly plugged in.

had the same problem with 3 years old inspiron 6400 (integrated gfx) due to mother board failure and i think the main reason which killed it, is OVERHEATING well i was out of warranty and won't spend money... so RIP inspirons ;'(

Yeah. Unless if your mobo is totally fried, i don't think your 6400 is totally dead. Maybe some of it's internal organs had failed, probably you can drag it's life a little further by changing some of the bad parts.

    Aww... R.I.P.

Can't find a working mobo for it on ebay? Get it and tear that sucker down and re-build it.

hey if your going to just throw it out, I will take that Inspiron 6400 of your hands.
The main reason laptops die, is due to extensive periods of running high temperatures. Since the first day I got my E1505 (same as Inspiron 6400) I had I8KFANGUI installed, forcing the fans to full speed. I let it sit running 100% cpu load for months on end, havent had a problem. Just keep your next laptop cool and it will serve you well.
