I just purchased this Dell E1505 with 512 MB Single channel 533MHz RAM and want to upgrade to 2GB 667MHz RAM. (DDR2/200 pin/SoDIMM)

    1. Can I go for any brand or there are specific brands in compatible with Dell models. If yes, which are those brands..??

    2. What is the difference between PC5400 & PC5300 configs? Is there any difference between pin spacings?

    3. Any idea which could be the cheapest 1GB memory module? I jsut figured out (Kingmax 1024MB PC5400 DDR2 667MHz SODIMM Memory) priced at 90$ at Tigerdirect. Can it be compatible?

You can buy any 200 pin SO-DIMM PC 5300 or PC 5400. Both of those are 667 MHz DDR2. All brands will be compatible. No difference as far as 5400 vs. 5300 as far as pin-spacing. I would advise against giving money to tigerdirect, instead try to see what you can find on www.newegg.com

i'm not sure where you've been hearing praise for tigerdirect and the negativity is definitely not new at all; rather it's been there for at least a couple years due to their extremely terrible customer service, doa parts, terrible rebate service, etc etc.

Most of the issues with TigerDirect have been with past rebate problems. If your not sending in a rebate though with TD then you shouldn't have a problem but Newegg is the best place as far as price and customer service to order notebook memory. They also have the widest selection of brands.
