How come it shows Mac Book in the specs section?
Will this really work with my M1530? We're talking about the laptop right?

Yeah I just talked to my brother who is a computer major and has built computers before, that will work for the 1530. I just placed my order for 2...will end up being $62.65 for 4GB (2x2GB) RAM!

Won't hurt it, it will just only be able to use 3.5GB

Confirmed! It will work fine the PC5300/5400 tells you speed, the 200pin SODIMM tells you it is for notebooks (physical size shape configuration), all PC5300/5400 is DDR2 which is what you want. If it is wrong it will not fit. When they say things like Mac that just means they might of done extra testing to get Apples blessing but it means nothing, all RAM with certain specs follow JEDEC standards and will work in all systems set up to handle. Having RAM designed for one brand or system is not very realistic. Enjoy! :p

Ok thanks a lot. I used to think that there was a certain type of RAM for every computer - I know, dumb. Also from what I read name brand doesn't matter, only stats right? So then why pay twice as much for a name brand, will there be any benefit or will it be like buying at TJ Maxx instead of American Eagle...same product and performance, just not the name brand?

Potentially stupid question, but would one stick of this ram work in dual channel mode with one of the oem dell 2 gb sticks (i.e. if I were to use this ram to replace the 1 gb from a 3 gb setup)? For some reason, I thought that the ram had to be matched for dual channel... thanks.

No, dual channel needs 2 identical sticks. If you have 2 mismatched sticks it will run them in single channel mode.

Dual channel doesn't really matter, it will give a 2-5% increase at most. I just got them because my 1530 came with 1GB and these where so damn cheap!
