i just checked my processor settings using CPU-Z. i got the following results:

    CPU: Intel Core Duo 2300E
    Specification: Genuine Intel(R) CPU T2300 @ 1.66GHz

    Memory
    Type: DDR2 Channels: Dual
    Size: 1024
    Frequency: 266MHz

    Memory Slot Selection:
    Module 1 Size: 512 MB
    Max Bandwidth: PC4300 266MHz

Now, first things first - i've been duped.
I remember i especially called the whore at customer care when i saw in shipping details my processor as "Core Duo 2300e". The ***** said there's no need to worry as you'll get only what you ordered. i'll call them up tomorrow and bite them to pieces arrgghh.
but there's another thing: its only the cpu z which shows info like that, under the system properties i can still see just T2300? also, under the device manager, i just see T2300 @ 1.66? what the heck's up with this?

now the RAM, is the frequency multiplied as 266x2, or have i been duped here again? i think PC43oo is 533MHz, but please clear my doubt.

Hi, the T2300 at 1.66Ghz is Duo Core runing at 1.66 Ghz ( the T series is the brand for Intel Core Duo same as Pentium 4 with HT is diffirent with Pentium 3 ). You have 1Gig Dual Channel 533Mhz: there are 2 Slot and you have 2 card on it with 512Mb each, Dual Channel is they runing at 2 channel at same time so each channel runing at 266Mhz !!! There is nothing wrong with Dell !!!

No, you didn't get the processor you ordered. The RAM is fine, but you ordered a T2300 and got a T2300E because they ran out of T2300's and their policy allows them to make a reasonable substitute I think. There's a few other threads on this issue.

Unless you really need virtualization, I wouldn't think its a big issue. I agree that its annoying to not get what you ordered though. Maybe you can get on the phone with them and tell them that you DO need virtualization and try to get them to give you an upgrade to a T2400.

Oh, I got it. There must be show like this on CPU-Z : Name Intel Core Duo T2300 ( Code Name Yonah and Model is E ) so Intel Core Duo T2300 E = Intel Core Duo T2300 !!!

T2300, T2300E - the only difference as posted is the latter lacks virtulization. Doesn't make a difference most of the time, I wouldn't worry about it.

Your RAM is fine too - 266MHz is the non-DDR speed - double it to get that. So, 266*2 = 533MHz = PC4300.

i agree with all your guys, thanks for the support.
but the big problem is that i confirmed with the lady (one who managed my order processing) that it wasnt a T2300E when i saw it during the delivery the delivery process on the status check page! doesnt that equate to a plain lie. the whore told me its gonna BE A T2300 not T2300E, as i read about the latter lacking Virtualization Technology.
Hey i use SuSe along with Vista, i may need it in the future in case i need to make a switch. but anyhow, its disgusting. they're getting a call from me tomorrow. she (pooja m, the CC lady) knows very well that i asked her that question!
