    hi

    does inspiron 6000 ( NOT 6000d) supports PC4200 533MHz RAM or ONLY PC3200 400MHZ?

Yes BOTH MOdels do, ON the 6000D, the "D" stands for "dedicated Memory" referring to the graphics solution.

it has nothing to do with vid card...

if you have <1.6, then you're stuck at pc2-3200, anything 1.6 or larger, pc2-3200 or 4200

it seams strange that they made "mistake" at notebookforum FAQ...

so are you saying that memory speed depends ONLY on processor version? not on mother board support?

i'm saying that if you got a processor <1.6, then the mb you got only supports 400mhz. if you got a 1.6 or higher, then the mb supports both 400 and 533. it has nothing to do with the vid card and the easiest way to tell what fsb is supported is by checking the processor speed.

instead of relying on a faq put together by someone on a forum, why don't you just go to dell site and look at the specs?

as of today, the 6000's 1.6 is 400, but anything higher is 400 or 533. when i got my 6000d, the 1.5s were 400 and the 1.6's or greater were 400 or 533.

Any chance DDR PC2700 333 will work with a 1.6?
