In another thread I said that I was getting a $100 gift card in the mail from dell. The only things that interest me are RAM and a tv tuner for the xps 1210.

Since I have to buy from dell I have to buy their 1 gb stick for $140 (I have to pay for $40) or I can get a tv tuner for 105 (pay for $5). Both of these are without tax.

    Which one would you get?

I currently have 1 gb of ram and my computer runs fine most of the time.

IMO if you dont feel any slowdowns now then increasing RAM will do nothing for you. I dont fully use my 1GB RAM.

The upgrade for a performance upgrade is obvious - if you feel it or not thats a different issue.

I voted for the TV tuner because that more a functional increase for your laptop. RAM is cheap anyway (Im sure ive seen Corsair Value select 1GB 667 for like 80 bux of newegg) so if you feel the need to upgrade later then you can get it cheaper.

    I like having a tuner!

I'd get the TV tuner. Ram is cheaper elsewhere.

Get the TV Tuner b/c you can get RAM cheaper from newegg, unless you feel you REALLY need the RAM right now...

the poll didnt say everything, I voted ram over the tuner, but dont buy ram from dell, if it was me, I'd probably use the gift card on an extra battery or a flash drive

I already have the 6 and 9 cell battery so getting an extra battery is not an option at this point. I dont really need a flash drive either, I have a spacious HD that I only use a small portion of.

Thanks for all your replies; any additional viewers please vote!!!!

actually RAM and TV tuners are pretty much cheaper elsewhere. Remember that the TV tuner is not internal.

I am well aware that they are cheaper elsewhere but I have to buy from dell because I will have a dell gift card!

External tuner is not a problem with me.

I say go for the tv tuner, since its most likely cheaper to buy ram from someone else other then dell. Also if the tv tuner is internal, bonus!

Unless its an ExpressCard tuner, it'll probably be the Dell Angel USB Tuner.
