My XPS M1710 system specs are as follows:

    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7400 Processor (2.16GHz,667MHz,4MB L2 cache)

    2048MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x1024]

    160GB (5400RPM) SATA Hard Drive

    512MB DDR3 nVidia® GeForce™ Go 7950 GTX graphics card

    Vista Installed (32 bit)

I can only play the Crysis demo at medium to low settings, and even then it chugs a bit. I've seen that my laptop can take up to 4GB RAM so is it worth putting an extra GB or two in? I would really like better performance in high end games, and i believe this would make a big difference to my frame rate issues. And, how easy would it be to put more RAM in my M1710?

    Thanks for your time.

Adding more ram won't really help you - 2gb should be plenty for all new games. Anyways, the max amount of ram that 32-bit Vista can actually read is 3.5gb, even if you have 4gb installed.

You have a very good video card, but you'll need the newest drivers to get the best framerate (if you don't already have them). Here's the latest driver (169.04) that was made specifically for running Crysis:

Try installing that and see what happens =)

    What res were you on?

You really can't ask your system to play at high resolutions since Crysis demands alot.

My M90 plays @ following settings well,

    1200x800

    Texture - High
    Objects quality - High
    Shadow - Low
    Physics - Low
    Shaders - Medium
    Volumetric - Low
    Game Effects - Low
    Post Process - Low
    Particles - Low
    Water - Medium
    Sound - Medium
