    i have a E1505 with a T2500 cpu and 1 gig of RAM,

i was considering adding 1 gig of RAM, but i have a few questions.

with 1 gig of RAM from Dell, is that usually 1 stick @1gb or 2 @512mb, and how many upgrade slots for RAM does the E1505 have.

ive read that sticking with the 533mhz RAM is ideal, is this true?

will more RAM adversely affect my battery life?

i want the upgrade to improve performance for gaming, i play BF2 on my laptop and it runs great but it could be better. im probably going to be playing BF2142 on it next month, or maybe NWN2.

i may actually save the money and build a new desktop.

the e1505 is not a bad portable gaming machine... for lighter end games... it sounds like those games may be run on your laptop under lower settings... but if your game is lagging or you are getting low frame rates, adding ram may help it slightly if at all. i still suggest you upgrade your ram to 2 gb, and if you have 533mhz in there now, stick to that... to know if you have 1 dimm or 2 just open it up and check. i do believe more ram does lower battery life, but not by much. its performance vs. battery, i think its worth it for 2 gb ram... if your game is lagging its mainly because of the gpu, which there's not much you can do about it. so if these games are that important to you, the desktop core 2 duos are out, and you should probably build a desktop for these games... otherwise adding in the ram can help a little on your laptop, but not much...
