Since when did LED replace LCD? Im still kind of stuck in 2007 since thats when i got my last laptop, i remember everything had LCD and dell were releasing the m1330 with an OLED? screen or something. When did LED's come into play and what happened to the whole OLED thing? Also whats an RGB LED?

LED, for WLED (white light emitting diode) is now becoming the standard for the backlighting used for LCDs rather than florescent bulbs. RGBLED (red, green, blue light emitting diode(s)) is a color LED that works in tandem with the LCD to produce more shades of gray, in other words more accurate color, and darker blacks. WLED might do something similar in that it dims the pixel for darker blacks. Downside to LED? Not as bright as florescent bulbs, most people wouldn't know the difference though.
