    Hi,
Is there a huge difference between the mobile cards, Radeon X300 and Radeon 9700? Which is the better performer for games and graphics heavy apps?
    Thanks.

Do not consider those GPUs. First, they are too old, and second, at that time they were not built for gaming.

Depends what I'm after though, I simply want a laptop with wireless connection for the internet and the ability to play the older games like Black & White 2, Age of Empires etc.

bought a 9800pro for like 700$ 5 years ago! It was the bomb at the time!

Now its pretty annoying since it sounds like a jet engine!

Black & White 2 and Age of Empires will run on anything, including Intel integrated cards. If that's as advanced as your gaming is going to be, then either of those cards will be plenty.

Even though he is not going to play demanding games, I find it a bad idea to buy old, crappy GPUs. Low-end or integrated GPUs like the HD 3200 or the 9400M are much better decisions.

If you still insist buying one of those two GPUs, the 9700 is faster.

    Hi,
Thanks for the replies, I'm not that into gaming and the laptops I'm looking at are older ones mainly used for surfing the internet. I'm thinking about a Inspiron 6000 or 8600 or 6400 so fairly old machines. I do have a higher spec desktop hence no need to have a high spec laptop.
