I was going to order the e1705 with 512 mb ram and then just up grade the ram my self because its cheaper. Does any one know if this would void my warranty by me upgrading the ram and not by dell.

no it won't void your warranty. In my opinion, that is the best way to go since dell overcharges for RAM

Great. Second question Dell has the 1gig ram 667mhz for 153.99 each. So it would cost me 307.98 for 2 mgig 667mhz ram is that a good price? Does any one know a good place to get it if that isnt good?

I've seen Crucial being recommended in a lot of posts. A bit on the pricey side. I got 2GB (2X1GB) of this brand G.Skill from newegg. \ http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820231042

Dropped it into my E1705, worked like a charm. Got it for 156 shipped. Mind you it's 533 not 677 speed. The price margin was a bit too wide to justify getting the 667 for me, although they do have the 667 on their site, and it's stil cheaper than getting from Dell.

Just keep in mind the price of 667MHz RAM will rapidly drop.

And you have one of the ugliest icons I have ever seen.
