Ok folks im having a wonder here. My notebook is 667 speed (i think) for the processor now the chipset in the latest 1530 notebooks is 800 i think?
Sooo im wondering if you stick 800 speed memory in it can you lower the latency? could you lower it anyway? and is there any other way to get the windows rating number thingy down.

The chipset in the 1530 is still the PM965 with 667MHz Max RAM speed.
Montevina out later in the year will bring 800MHz RAM speed to the market. -
well you can already get 800 ram on the bay of e's so im wondering if its possible to run it at 667 and then have a cas of 4. i mean ddr on the pc runs at cas3 and some is 2.5 so if we can get it down then thats got to be a winner? just dont know how to go about it on a laptop?

It would be in your BIOS. If you can't find it in the memory section, then you might be out of luck. Anything higher than 667 will be downclocked automatically, so if you get 800, then it will run at 667 when you boot up. You have to check the manufacturer's specs to see what CAS latency it runs at, at 667 speeds or alternatively, if you've already bought it, try CPU-Z. Most 800 memory has runs at CAS5 at either speed (667 and 800). Though, even if you get it to CAS4, you won't notice a difference in real life performance (unless you benchmark).
Ram speed 800 to 667 and latency
