    Hey guys,
I'm running stock 2x 512 mb 533 Mhz ram right now.

I would like to upgrade but I can't find information about my motherboard ANYWHERE. It's not listed on the dell system specs website, either.

So, my question comes down to which would be better:
    PC-5300 (667Mhz) ram with 4-4-4-12 timing or PC-6400 ram (800Mhz) with 5-5-5-18 timing?

What is the maximum speed of memory that the e1505 can use? If it's 667 Mhz, I'm of course going to go for the ram with faster timing, but if it's 800 Mhz then I'll go for the speed. I'm using a 2.0 GHz core 2 if it matters, and all I could find it bios is that it's a mm061 "system."

Sorry, I just can't find the information anywhere...

    Thanks,
    jkloorbaspo2

/edit: crucial has a search utility where you can put your system model in and it says the max speed for ram is PC-5300. Can anyone confirm?
/edit2: A separate RAM retailer says:
What type of memory do I need?
Your Dell Inspiron uses PC2-4200 type memory.
/edit3: Yet another says.. Memory Comments PC2-4200/5300 DDR2 SDRAM SODIMMs.

So I'm guessing it can run both 533 and 667 Mhz ram but nothing faster?

You wont notice much difference... I have the 6400... so thats the same computer as the 1505... I had 1gb... swapped it out for 2gb of PC-5300.
I'm not sure if it can use pc6400. Either way, the difference wont be huge. Computer runs a fair amount better with 2gb instead of 1... I only have 1 in now, because i'm getting my computer replaced, but I can notice the difference.

Stabilo: Yeah, I know the differences are minimal, but there's no reason to not go with the ram with better timing if my motherboard can't make use of the faster speed :).

Fragilexx: Thanks man. I am surprised at how freaking difficult it is to find this info.

Case closed - thanks for the help guys!
