I had AIM and about 4 or 5 different internet windows open, and I kept getting an error message coming up saying, "Ran out of memory at line..."
What is this, how do I fix it?
I tried the search feature but didn't see anything, so sorry for making yet another thread.
I thought 2GB ram was enough for vista to function?
Any help is appeciated thanks!
EDIT:
Okay its worse than i thought! I clicked to edit with one tab open on IE, and it wouldnt open it kept giving me the error "Ran out of memory at line 88" i also got at line 175. I exited the tab and then it finally let me edit this. I don't know what to do.

Where is this message coming up? Seems like it might be an AIM issue to me...
I don't use AIM though (haven't in probably 5-10 years) so I can't say for certain... -
It comes up on Internet Explorer, I've had this laptop for over a week with AIM and many internet windows and it never occured before tonight.
-
Post a screenshot as this error doesn't make much sense to me...

EDIT: It got to the point where I couldn't click any link on the page without the error message, so I restarted the computer and the error seems to be gone now. I'd still like to know what caused it and how to prevent it in the future though.Attached Files:

Do you enjoy searching random gibberish on google?
-
LOL, i Xed out of my tab, so I had to make a new one to show the error so i just went to google. Hmm, that could definitely amuse me though lol -
Have you checked your paging file size?
Go to system information / advanced system settings / advanced / performance / settings / advanced / click change
Set the paging file size to
MIN 3072
MAX 4096
Or you can burn Memtest to a CD (look it up) and run it to test your RAM for issues! -
It could also be a program or plugin that you are using that is causing the problem. What antivirus/firewall/anti-spyware programs are you using?
-
What exactly does resettin the paging file size do? It says "total paging file size for all drivers: 2345MB"
I'm using the included trend mico, and i think i have the windows defender firewall on? I just remember going through control panel and turning the windows one on, if that makes any sense.
EDIT: I just had myspace running in another tab and it was doing the out of memory at line: again. -
Just an idea. In Vista, check the option "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives" and see if that helps. You can always revert to your old settings if that doesn't work.

Thats what its on right now -
go in your task manager and see how much ram is actually being used
-
Have you tried yelling at the computer, or nicely asking it to stop displaying that message?
In other words, generic error messages suck. I have no idea how to help you. Good luck though. How often does this error pop up? -
I'm not sure what part of task manager shows the RAM usage. Physical memory says 39%, CPU Usage 25%[keeps changing], 84 processes, Memory under the performanc tab says 814MB Physical memory says total 2045 cached 1378, Kernel mem total 24 page 174.
lol hope i got the part in there somewhere, sorry im not very experinced with this stuff -
lol. well it only started today, and it would show up on every link i tried to click on NBR when i had a tab of some site up at the same time.
I deleted some random things, and I haven't gotten the message in an hour or so? [i think, but i cant really measure time right now, 2am kinda sleepy lol] -
Yeah, its only using 39% of your memory. You are no where near out. Mine stays at 50% with 2gb ram. I think its another program glitching out. I have never used trend micro, but i assume they have some sort of internet security service that goes along when using internet explorer to keep you safe. If it does have this, maybe you could disable it...or maybe just disable trend micro all together and see if you get different results.
I think its fair to say that it is a software bug somewhere...maybe another idea would be to do a system restore to a few days ago when the issue did not occur. -
Looks like a memory leak of a background application or a plugin. Look at the task manager's processes list for any unusually large memory usage, next time you get that error (while it is being displayed on screen).
-
start by installing firefox...why would you ever use ie
-
Checked the error message options?

LOL that's what I was thinking, too...
-
Seriously, dude, Trend Micro?
I'd also recommend a system restore to a couple of days ago. Or it may be that your memory has just gone bad... -
If memory has gone bad, i don't think it would stop with a simple error message like that. A hardware error would most likely result in a blue screen or a system crash (or at least a critical stop error).

What's wrong with IE7 on Vista operating in Protected Mode?
-
Firefox is boring and drab as hell. It's tabbed browsing and hideous appearance makes me wanna barf all over my screen, but with Firefox, it looks like somebody already did.
So in essence, IE7 is the bomb. -
Well even if we think a mem error would cause blue screen it cant hurt to yank out a vista disk and do the mem test. It'd only take a few min and would rule out a possible cause.
-
It's the bomb?! So you're saying IE7 is good at blowing up? I would have to agree...
LOL -
Ya, IE7 can do anything, even cause the BSoD.
-
LOL. He does have a point about the default Firefox theme. It sucks when you run it in Vista. All the vista stuff has nice round and bubbly corners. And Firefox is flat and .
-
lol 84 processes ? , I got around 30 :/
Ran out of memory at line...
