I got the dell stuido 17 few weeks ago and i have been having a problem where it detects a USB device making that lovley little "dun-NUH' the icon appears in tray then quickly goes away and makes the "nuh-DUH" well u think this wasnt a big deal but it does it allll the time now and when im gaming or watching movies or playing music it reeeally bugs me. i have been on and off with dell for 3 weeks with this issue and they have been no help, just flash bios, or reformat (i did both neither worked). I just reallly wanna find a solution! plz help thanks in advance!

First the band-aid fix. Go to Control Panel > sounds>sounds tab. Then change the sounds for device connect and device disconnect to "none". At least they won't bother you any more.
I had the same problem and was able to lessen it somewhat by removing and reinserting the remote control that's stored in the slot on the side. There are no connectors on the remote, so I don't understand why this should have any effect at all, but it did. That got rid of most, but not all of the annoying noises. I couldn't get any further than that, so I just turned the sounds for these actions off completely. Other than the noise, there doesn't seem to be any other effect so I just let it go once the noises were put to rest. -
thanks for info i got rid of sound. still would like a real fix tho...dell has promised to call me back twice with soultion.............i hate it
