    Hi all,

This is the 2nd time in 6 months I have re-formatted my hard drive. The first time was when I first got it and it went pretty smoothly. This time, things went well but now when the computer connects to the wirless network at startup I get ths message...

    WINDOWS - System Error
X A Duplicate Name Exists on the Network.

Any ideas? Kinda weird.... Would like to fix it as it's annoying. Thanks.

That doesn't make any sense. Usually that message occurs when two computers with the same "Computer Name" are on the same network at the same time. If you reformatted then that's absolutely weird. Maybe it's a ghost.

Hey Justin (sorry for not responding to your PM, was at work most of yesterday -.-)

Yeah, it is a weird error, but you need to change the name of your laptop especially if you are logging on to your companies' network or home network. As flawless said, this happens when two computers on the same network have the same name.

Its not a major error to have, but it is a pain. Until you change the name of your laptop, you can not access some/all parts of the internet.

    I'll try that, thanks guys.

Now the MediaDirect repair isn't working. When I boot the CD, I never get a command prompt to type any commands....?? If it isn't one thing....
