    I thought this info important enough for its own thread.

    I just ordered a 9300 the other day. I investigated this $500 coupon I just saw here. I thought I might call and see if I could get the discount I didn't know about till now. I first did an experiment. I clicked on the coupon link for the 9300 and it brought me to a customize page. I put in the exact options I purchased. Then I logged onto Dell seperately and built another 9300 the exact same way.

    Discounted price with coupon link: $2954.00
    Discounted price regular Dell website: $2895.00 (with free printer)

    These are before taxes, handling, etc.

    The other day I paid $2452.00 ($2649.39 after tax, etc.)

    All three builds are exactly the same. I built mine online and phoned in the order. I said I was a returning customer during the couse of the phone call gave me another 10% off without me asking. Also, last night I purchased an M140 as well. This time I straight asked for the discount and I got it.

    My advice, find the cheapest build and ask for the 10% as well.

    jhwyung, 99% of the information you read regarding Dell 'coupons' on the internet (atleast this site) will apply to US only. I know, it's a shame. Reading more and more threads on amazing deals can be depressing. Why these deals aren't given in Canada is beyond me.

    Yup here in the UK we do not seem to get any deals as good as in the US. and we have to pay by the minute on an 0870 number to call Dell customer service and technical support, even Dell sales is charged at up to 8p per minute (approx 14c per minute) at current exchange rates. and to top it all sales tax (VAT) is 17.5%

    Talk about rip-off Britain !

    I just tried to get the 10% returning customer discount by phone, and the nice young lady at Dell said she didn't know anything about it.

    The point became moot when she pointed out the $750 coupon is online only. So I'm just gonna go get my 700m online (710m be ****ed). EDIT: Wow, you can't use the "Doors Always Make Noise" word???)

    @Sonarboom...
    Why not find a US person to purchase for you and have it shipped. Probably save a good amount of $$. If it is something for you.. I donl;t think anyone would really balk. I just wouldn;t try to get into it being a regular practice.

    $2400 may be expensive, but I chose most of the best options including the 4 year premium plan. I've seen my friends laptops break quite a bit over the years (one even ran his over with his truck) and Dell has always fixed it right away or just flat out replaced it with new. I swear Dell may have revised their Complete Care rules just becuase of one of my friends. He must have received 4 new laptops (including upgraded models) over the years.

    It may be tricky with the 10%. I was not told it was because I was a returning customer. I said my first one was stolen and I was a returning customer. A little while later he just offered it to me. On the second laptop I didn't mess around and told him I knew exactly what I wanted. Before I went into all the options I wanted I told him this will be the 3rd Dell I'm buying in the past 2 years and am looking for a discount, like 15% off or something like that. I did no other convincing. He wanted to know if I was prepared to buy it right now. I already had a Dell preferred account (don't know if that makes a difference). He would say, "OK, you have 18 months no interest and you want 15% off?" I would simply say yes and shut up. This let him know the sale was his to lose at this point if he didn't give the 10%. He eventually said that he could only give a 10% discount, not 15%. I was prepared to mention an HP laptop I was looking at and even terminate the sale. I knew if he wouldn't do it the next person might. It was worth it to me to try a couple of times with different sales people to save $260.

    Both times they had to go and approve the discount with their supervisor. I hope this helps you all in trying for the extra discount. It may not work for all, but if you are a returning customer and maybe going with the higher options or give some sob story (yes my laptop was really stolen), then you may have a chance.
