I recently returned my 1520 and today my account was credited for the purchase price MINUS TAXES! I called in and they are supposed to be correcting it in 3-5 business days, but for anyone else who returns a computer, be sure and check your refund amount!

Dell also changed their restocking policy, and now charge 15%
-
I spoke with a few different reps and no one mentioned a restocking fee. I don't think they really enforce this, especially not if you say something is wrong with your laptop.
-
wait, i was told here are no restocking fees for Vostro. i'm thinking of cancelling my 1500 which is in boxing stage. will i be charged?

a year ago i sent back a desktop and they credited back everything but the tax. when i called back in to customer care i was told they don't credit back tax. iknew this was crap - that is against the law. so they told me to talk to the accounting dept and they verified what i thought to be true - they cannot and should not be keeping the tax.
-
you can also return it within 30 days (some argue its 21) for a *COMPLETE* refund .. am I right folks?
-
yes, even though they might give you a hassle, just be consistant with them and don't settle for the bs they give you
-
i sent my laptop back 2 days after i got it because it was too big. nothing wrong on dells part. i just had to pay the 30 dollars shipping return fee and they gave me a full refund within the next 2 weeks

My tax was refunded yesterday. I think everything is correct now--I'm waiting for my next statement to be sure.
Read this if you have returned/are thinking about returning a computer to Dell
