I have contacted Dell serveral times about a variety of issues with my e1705 notebook. I have had poor DVD performance, random crashes, loss of wireless connectivity, a clicking fan or hdd. Recently I finally had someone look at it, and replaced the graphics card (because the damn thing was dead), and the keyboard for some mysterious reason.

However, the DVD performance, and clicking sound persist. I had one supervisor tell me they were dispatching a box over 10 days ago that never came. Now I am being told that since my warranty has 1 day left in it, they would need me to upgrade to have anything done. So now I wait for a phone call to see what sales pitch I get this time.

Inform Dell that since you have been reporting this issue for some time, they have to fix it. Copy the BBB on it.

Also, since it has 1 day left on it...that still means it is under warranty and they still have to fix it unless they want to be hit with a breach of contract.

Almost 5 hours and no one has called me, even though I was assured "soon"

Actually if your warranty expires it doesn't matter, they will have to fix your issue, BUT if you don't give them a call within 60 days the case will be closed and there will be nothing to do about that, so dont worry about the warranty thing, just be persistent and they have to fix this issue.
