They will take it back for sure.

NOt only that, but tell them you want to use it as you need it for school or something, until you get the XPS back and you need to put a SUPER RUSH ORDER in to get the correct laptop.

Take everything you can before sending it back. If they question about it (like missing RAM lol) tell them. I have no idea, you guys built it.

Nah, I'll just recycle the manual. The instead of giving them back anything, I'll just state unforseen delays.

LMFAO! That's a genius idea. Considering they sent you the wrong laptop, I doubt they really know what's in it.

now way period.. the 1521 is a pretty basic computer unless lots was added even then it uses amd dual core i believe which no offense in any way to amd i like their desktop cpu's but the intel core 2 duo blows away their notebook ones

Easy solution: find an old Dell laptop around the neighbourhood. Then, ship THAT back to Dell and ask for the m1330. There, you just got yourself both laptops.

The m1330 is better than the 1521.

    To the OP -

Your parents' hesitation to return a computer that's less than what they paid for tells me that the 1521 could be what they purchased. They may have promised you the 1330, but the 1521 could have been more in the cards as far as budget.

Resolution : Look at the receipt and packing list. If it details the XPS1330 on both of those, a return/exchange is definitely in order as the 1330 is a more high-end unit. If there is a failure to produce on your parents' part regarding the papers, I would just take a step back and be thankful for what you got.

Bottom line, check the facts before you proceed any further. It will save everybody the embarassment. If the latter is true, don't hate your parents either. Sometimes their desire to please their kids and grand kids gets the best of them.

    Good luck either way.

umm wow, sounds like your parents pwned you, I'm pretty sure they ordered the 1521 instead...how old are you by the way??

I'm sorry, this whole thread smells fishy. Dell sends you a laptop worth at least $500 less than the one you "actually ordered", yet mommy and daddy say go ahead and keep it??? LOL I don't think so

Its like comparing apples and oranges. They cater to completely different markets. 1521 is a very basic, cheap low-end model aimed for basic computing needs while M1330 is an expensive, stylish premium notebook loaded with everything need in a notebook.

If you look at current DELL prices, you’ll see that M1330 starts at $1499 and 1521 at $549 (without tax or discounts). That alone is a good enough reason to send it back. Moreover it is smaller (portable), weigh less, has a better processor, a better graphics card (depending on the configuration), has an integrated camera, looks stylish, and can be configured with a load of cool features like finger print reader, remote, better screen etc..

well, if you really ordered the 1330 and got the 1521, then, to quote from the movie 300, 'take from them everything, but give them nothing' :D

You're suggesting a conspiracy theory? That's ridiculous. This isn't a crashed 747 or some Area 51 (hmmmm... ALIENWARE j/k). This is Dell delivering the wrong laptop. I don't see the whole conspiracy of the parents choosing the wrong laptop on purpose.

No conspiracy. May have very well been just a misunderstanding on both their parts.

To the OP - take a breath, examine your paperwork, and proceed accordingly.

    Good luck.

Good point might think that a 15" is much better than a 13"
