    Hey all,

I've been reading this forum for a while now (about a month) and this is my first post. I've been prompted into action because Dell delayed the shipping of my Inspiron 1520 from August 1 to August 28th!!! I'm pissed that it was delayed this much because I need a laptop for college.

So I called the Dell Customer Service and talked to a representative and asked why the 1520 was delayed. He gave me 3 reasons:

    1. Midnight Blue Cover
    2. Webcam
    3. Screen (Mine is WXGA)

After looking through the forums again, I realize that anyone who purchased a Jet Black cover got it relatively quickly. I ordered mine on July 12th. Predetermined ship date was July 26th. Estimated Ship Date was August 1st, now delayed to August 28th.

The guy said that Dell should be getting a shipment of parts from their suppliers within the next 10 days (from August 1st), and then he also gave me free next day shipping (worth $80) for my troubles. I'm going to try and get that for my sister's laptop as well, and maybe get the free IR remote as well out of them for my troubles.

What do you guys make of these delays (obviously you're mad about it), but any help/comments about the delays are appreciated.

    Thanks

And what sucks is that he need the laptop for school with in the next 2 weeks.
I wish there was a store to buy these, the dell kiosk don't realy help.

I heard rumors that they sell the 1520 at costco, I need to check up on it.

Your not even getting the 8600 graphics card thats really crazy and this thing is supose to be on sale? 200 off? ripoff!!!!

but then again if you want your pc and you want to pay that price for it lol go for it but if you ask me i rather keep waiting until 2008 which is when dell will mostlikely figure out what comes next after build stage.

After checking the costco site, your right, I don't think they have any dell laptop with the geforce card, it is a rip off and the price is alot. Do you know if they are allow to sell laptops at Dell Kiosk, I'm about to check there tomorrow. But I dout that they would sell anything at the store.

    :(

The Dell kiosks do not have laptops for sale. They are simply there to take orders. If you didn't want to place an order online or on the phone, you can go to a Dell kiosk.

Some people are experiencing delays, but mostly due to color. You ordered black, so it may not affect you. See some users on this thread were delayed:

    Good Luck!
