If anyone can work out how to reassign the Dell MediaDirect button to boot to a second OS - be it Ubuntu, XP, or more or less anything, I can supply the other half of the bargain!

I don't have a seperate MediaDirect Partition - just my OS and the Recovery Partition.

Actually, you do have an MD partition, it just likes to hide itself.

But it can't hide from Linux....
    Muahahaha (gparted).

Can I just disable the button. If I have just Vista installed, if I accidentally press that media direct button, it messes up the MBR, then I have to format.

You don't have to reformat, just fix the MBR by booting the Vista install disc, selecting repair, and typing this in the command prompt:

    bootrec /fixmbr

Or turn the computer off and press the Media Direct button again... Media Direct will then fix the MBR for you...
