It is a VERY rare thing, and apparently it happened once last year. If you are a student, you can get a discount on XPS through EPP in any case.

Thanks I know they have an XPS no interest for 18 months thing going on, mabye they will put in a 15% off after that is over (or something like that).

I suppose this site will have any info when XPS is going to get discounts.

I am a student taking classes at a local community college (CCSN in Las Vegas). I hope I can qualify. And what is EPP?

It's certainly possible that a coupon comes out for the XPS system, like last year. IF I were to take a guess, I would say it comes out right before the Santa Rosa chipsets come on the market.

EPP means Employee Purchase Program. Students are entitled to the discount that Dell employees probably get, or a bit less.

Thanks, I'll get 6% off which is almost $200! Thats great! I'm debating waiting until they have a nice deal going. Its going to cost $3109 including tax and everything after the EPP discount.

When is Santa Rosa coming out?

Some of the time the coupons for other inspiron notebooks work the the XPS. It is usually short lived as Dell didn't intend for them to work for that. I remember a few months back when this last happened. Anytime you get a coupon code in your email try it out on an XPS...and if it does work...don't tell anyone else! ;)

Yea the xps coupons are extremely rare. I was one of the fornuate ones who was in the market for a notebook when the sale started.
