Ok. I'm not sure if you guys remember me, but I posted before about my gruff against the cpu whine from my first m1330. I called in, and got a replacement.

The replacement came in today and the whine is still present, maybe a little damper. I've noticed I now have the A07 bios (does this mean I have the newer mobo as well?)

It seems like age makes a big difference in noticing the noise. I (age 18) and my other friends (18 as well) can hear the whine but my parents (50's) can't.

I notice the whine when battery is set at high performance, and when set at power saver, the whine disappears.

Also, the whine is much more evident when the laptop is plugged in the AC.

Any tips would be appreciated. Do you guys any suggestions?

I've read this is common (flameko) but not all laptops have this. Any suggestions?

Ignore the HDD comment in sig vvv

Ok first...your issue may not be the CPU noise but rather a noise associated to the adapter when it is charging between 60-100%. You will know when the system is fully charged. One of mine had this and it dissipated in the first week. I like to give everything a break-in time just to make sure.

If its the adapter noise, it will be right at the plug in on the laptop, only when plugged in and charging and inside the laptop, not the adapter.

If it is the whine and it bothers you, call for another replacement...simple as that.

i seem to be able to hear it from both the bottom right and near the AC...

What should I do if its southbridge whine?

I think I have the new mobo but I'm not sure how to check.

Also a new 'feature' I noticed. My first laptop did not 'eject' anything if nothing was in the slot when you press the eject button. The replacement w/ A07 now 'ejects' if you press the eject button regardless of anything inside. Also, now it seems to stall whenever I press the eject button, doesn't bother me too much though.

I'm in the same boat. A07 bios and both CPU and Southbridge whine I think.

The eject issue is a function of the DVD drive you received (you probably got two different makes).
