I was so happy that my new computer arrived yesterday.. and had high expectations.. but I'm so disappointed!

You know something is not right - when you think your old computer is better...

Current computer is a 3 yr old XPS 1710

I loaded up the Studio 17 with everything I could, as $$ wasn't an issue. I wanted a 17" screen, comparable to my XPS 1710.

The new Studio's colors on the monitor are very washed out... but the another main reason it is going back is that it keeps on crashing when I go to Facebook and play Farmville! I tried a couple different browsers and tried last night and again today - same issues.

I really am unhappy with the washed out colors of the monitor... now I'm not sure what computer I should buy!

I am not sure about the monitor, however if your computer crashes when you play farmville (specifically), it is a software issue rather than a hardware issue.

I highly recommend visting adobe/google and figuring out how to uninstall the Flash player. Restart your computer and reinstall the Flash player.

If this doesn't resolve it, I know there is a history of some antivirus programs interfering with the flash player. Try disabling your security software (make sure it is truly disabled) and try again.

Finally, if you press your start button and start typing reliability monitor, you will be able to see what Windows 7 believes caused your system crash.

I suppose if you want to try my suggestions, you could do it in reverse order.

Never seen that reliability monitor. It's pointed me in the direction of a program on my PC that kept crashing that I never knew about!

    Thanks.

I'm returning it. It was telling me there was an issue with the video card. I just think it looks washed out - and the colors are dull compared to my old XPS M1710. I want to upgrade, not downgrade.

I went with the XPS 16.. wish it was 17, but oh well...

That washed out dull ugly screen is the 1600x900, and if you ask them for the FULL HD 1920x1080 screen instead (they are out there) you`ll be amazed at the difference. Dell should be ASHAMED of themselves for giving out such a worthless piece of junk

I did go with the XPS 16 with the RGBLED screen... heard a lot of good things about it. Wish the XPS had a 17 inch available.. my old XPS M1710 looks a LOT better than the studio 17.

Why you didn't go for an Alienware M17x if money isn't an issue? Much more powerfull system with 17 inch Wide UXGA 1920x1200 RGBLED screen.
