    Receiving M1730 cause of my M1710 !

    Helle everybody,

    Short story: I will be receiving a Dell M1730 "shortly" because they couldn't find a part for my "old" laptop M1710.

    Care to share you story if you were SATISFIED :D or UNSATISFIED :( with your upgraded notebook.

    I'll give my review once I received it & test it for about a week.

    So far, I'm excited to receive this notebook M1730 with NO COST because I have a warranty of 3 years with Tech Support, Business Day Onsite/In Home Service & COMPLETE CARE for $$$$$$$$ :eek:

    Congrats are what gpu's are you getting. Since you had the highest on the m1710. also what part they didnt have one it.

    The report from Dell tech's just quoted: "NEW SYSTEM WILL BE REPLACED"

    I called the tech support to find out the problem and my new system.
    The Tech guy said: "I think it's the graphic card that was the problem !?!"
    "For your new laptop, you will receive the same or higher end laptop."
    I didn't bother to ask more cause I really want the M1730 :D

    i think 3 year warrantys do payoff in the llong run then. i'm going to make sure i get a 3 year everything. Lol.

    3 year warranty's are good.
    Just dont do anything stupid like me, and trust the sales peoples word.
    If you are going to mod your system in any way get a signature in ink allowing you to make changes. Voodoo cheaped me out and cut me off, so that 3 year warranty I paid for became a 0 month warranty, and my dead motherboard I had to pay more out of my pocket to fix.
    I have never had a problem with the dell warranty, I have the highest warranty that Dell offers on my E1505, and when I had a problem, Dell got me the replacement part within 2-3 days and I was up and running again.

    I just purchased a Studio 1735 laptop and it had a fan rattle issue within 1 week of getting it. They sent a rude tech out to fix it, he damaged the case of my laptop when he pryed it open, but he also forgot to hook up the internal speakers when he put it back together. Being on the phone for hours a day for several days, Dell tried to send me a replacement machine, but it wasn't avaiable. They tried the 1737 three times as well as a upgraded machine, and could not get the order to go through. So finally they surprised me and upgraded me to a XPS M1730 nicely loaded. BIG laptop, but I am happy with it. I hate Dell though due to their customer service (not returning calls or emails back and you literally have to threaten them to get them to call you). My backpack I purchased from Dell for my Studio does not fit my XPS and I talked to the guy finally after 3 attempts of getting in touch with him to get me a replacement bag that works so I can send this one back. As of today, 3 days later he hasn't return my call or updated me on status. He told me he would call me back on Monday a little bit later letting me know what he can do.

    Sadly, this might be my last Dell due to these issues.

    I called Customer Support & they said I " should " receive my M1730 next week Dec 10th. :confused:

    Should I be patient (which I'm already am) or frustrated ?

    Jason, thanks! I had to call their support again and talk to someone else to finally get it resolved. Then the guy calls me back yesterday after 4 days!!! And saying he has been busy and sorry to not get back with me, (that is a poor excuse). But he said he got the order fix and was getting me a replacement. But he screwed up and I had two orders coming in and he tried to order the same bag I already had that didn't work. Bunch of idiots that work there. He still hasn't cancelled the order and I told him too and he said he would yesterday. I told himtoday by email if it doesn't get cancelled I am not driving to the shipping place to get it shipped back.

    UPDATE!

    I received my XPS M1730 today !!! YEAH !!!!
    But wait, don't get too excited cause my AC Adapter died on me.
    I turn on my new laptop, installations went smooth, after 5 minutes of usage my AC Adapter died.

    I called XPS Support and I will be receiving a new AC Adapter within 2 to 3 business days.

    Once I'm getting my new AC Adapter, I will post another update with SPECS of my M1730.
