Friends, I am going to receive my first notebook XPS1330 in a couple of days with the following configuration.

    XPS M1330, Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7500 (2.2GHz/800MhzFSB, 4M L2 Cache)
    2GB, DDR2, 667MHz 2 Dimm, for XPS M1330
13.3 Inch Wide Screen WXGA TL WLED Backlit LCD with Camera, XPS M1330
128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS, for XPS M1330
160G 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive Free Fall Sensor
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition, English
Dell Travel ExpressCard Remote Control, IR
    Creative Earbud EP630
    8X DVD+/-RW Slot Load Drive for XPSM1330
    Integrated High Definition Audio 2.0
    Intel 4965AGN Wireless-N Mini Card
85 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery, for XPS M1330
LoJack Theft Recovery Service - 1 Year
Dell Wirless 355 Bluetooth Module (2.0+EDR)
    Fingerprint Reader
Slim and Light LCD with TuxedoBlack Casing and Camera XPS M1330

The only problem is my nephew(who is not very well versed in notebooks) will be receiving and checking it and sending it to me as I dont stay in America. He has about a month or so to check out the system and get any problem rectified by Dell before somebody brings it to me. Can you people suggest what all issues/problems my nephew needs to look into in a typical 1330 system.

    Thanks for the help.

If you spend a couple minutes searching the forums, you should be able to come up with a list yourself. Most (if not all) of the issues have been discussed at length in multiple topics.

Bent aluminium hand rest, keyboard sticking up in places, marks on the screen, parts falling off/not clipped in properly, large gaps between different parts (hinges quite often), DELL or XPS letters coming off, high pitched whine from by the express card slot, by the fan (CPU), excessive overheating underneath, and corresponding continual fan noise, computer freezing when ejecting a disk by the touch-sensitive button, low battery life, bad screen (as in colours, brightness, lines) and slow wirelessN performance.

Wow so there are quite a lot of things to be checked for. Also are dead pixels and graininess a problem in 1330 LED screen?

i think that would be quite a good idea, making a thread of things to look for with certain laptops and making it a sticky, and maybe another one with known problemns and what dell is doin bout them

I would be worried even buying a 1330 if I had to check for that much

Exactly same thread can be found here

My advice would be don't just try to find problems. If you notice any then find solutions here. Many people don't have any problems until they start reading other people's problems !!

Thanks, that was exactly the same thread. Again that was in october and I wonder if any new issues would have come up meanwhile.

Also XPS service is better because you should have gotten on-site service. ;)
