I recieved my replacement m1210 and it was nothing like my original, wrong hd and programs that i did not order with original and to top it all off when i called in and let them know that when i opened the box and saw more fingerprints on the top case than i get on my car for a week i just new it was a used one,so anyway they transferred me to cust support and i was told that i recieved the wrong one and the one i recieved was a 3 1/2 month old used machine, this thinf had wear marks on the palm rest,a couple nicks in the chrome part and more than half the keys were showing dark blotches thru the silver,i was told that i was suppose to get a brand new build which is what they were showing so they ordered me a new one again let's see what happens this time.Very discouraged.

if you're getting close to the end of the 21 day return period, you might want to just get your money back and start over on an order.

I recieved this back in august and and soon after i started it up(1 hour)is when i started seeing the flickering screen happening, called support up the same day and reported it and was told to keep an eye on it and see what happens so i waited a few weeks and called back up and that's when they started replacing things, lcd 1 day(did not fix it)called back and the very next day they sent out a new mother board(did not work)called back and let them know that i dont have time to do this everyday taking time out of my busy schedule so i asked for it to be replaced and the guy said yes that enough of trying to fix had been done and he was ordering me a brand new build and that's when i recieved this piece of crap yesterday, when the guy from cust svc told me that i recieved the wrong one and that what i had recieved was a 31/2 old used machine i wanted to climb thru the phone and tell him no s***.So he had to transfer me back to xps tech and they said that they were ordering me another new build,I cant wait to see what they send me!!! If anybody has any suggestions on what else i can do let me know. Later

When you're within 21 days period, always demand a brand new build. If they refuse - return it and order a new one.

They should give you something better actually. For small business every time I had problems and wanted an exchange I got another laptop with a larger hard drive etc.

Man I'm scared now :( They've shipped my replacement and I should get it this Friday. I better hope it's not a used one... I confirmed with them 5 times and they said it's a completely new build system. Well it makes sense since it went through all the production boxing etc. phase and is shipped again by slow purolator to Canada haha.

They BETTER NOT DOWNGRADE MY PARTS!!! OR SEND REFURBISHED!!! Is there any way to check if mine is refurbished?

Well i just recieved an email from support confirming me that as of today they ordered me a new m1210,this was done last night with support and the email came from a different person than the one that ordered it for me,anyway it says that it will take 2 to 3 weeks to get to me which is a lot better than this last one, ordered last monday and recieved it yesterday(quick because they pulled it from used stock)so my thinking right now is that if it's going to take 2 to 3 weeks it should be a new build,at least that's what i was told last night.

Just express them your displeasure about the ordeal, tell them you're a loyal customer, but now you're very concerned, that they wasted your valuable time, etc. Use chat instead of calling - they are more reponsive this way, because you'll have a record of the conversation...

doesnt work that well, seems dell cant understand that we need our replacement laptops to be like our originals. My original M1210 had a 7400go in it, yet my first and second replacement doesnt seem to have one. time to get a third replacement now! o yea, replacements are ok if u have the time to waste. So far, i swapped for a newer 7200rpm harddrive, kept a notebook carrying case, and swapped upgraded batteries from dell. seems like everytime they send a wrong replacement, they know and add something to it...

I have another replacement on the way and it says in production and i should recieve by wed 10/11,here is my question this last one i recieved was used & worn, are they going to send me another refurbished unit.
When i talked to them last night they told me that a dispatch was put in for a new build and that's all well and good but the 1st one i recieved 2 days ago was dispatched for a new build also and i ended up with a 3 1/2 month old one, when i take a look at the build process for the one i am to recieve next week it says it's in the build process and that kitting thing and then get's boxed and shipped, but the 1st one (refurb)went thru that same process, is there a way to really get to the truth on what they are sending me before i recieve it.

I dont think so because they will only show you the actual invoice. They could very well have not have everything included. Most of the time this is in a good way (I got a 7200 rom hd for free and audigy) but they might give less. I would do a thorugh check once receiving it.

I would seriously call dell back and say you want to cancel your order due to the poor service. They will definetly give you a gift card then. Its well worth it. I called them because a gift card I got for a friend was supposed to arrivve by a certain date and I called one day after the estimated arrival and they gave me a $100 gift card in addition to the original.

And especially if this new replacement has something wrong with it, def. do gift cards. If I got a $100 gift card for my remedial complaint then I think you can get at least $150 gift card. You might as well try, free easy money that is warranted.

Well this replacement that i recieved 2 days ago had the 7200 hd and the audigy upgrade,vs. my original had a 5400 hd and no audigy but the thing is,is that i dont care about the upgrades i want a new build replacement for the fact that i called the same day i recieved what i had purchased about the problems with it and it is documented,i dont understand why they sent me a refurbished one, that's what im having a hard time with. I bought a brand new machine,it broke and i want a brand new machine as a replacement,it's not rocket science dell !!!!!

You just say something like, "I am going to cancel my order due to this poor service." They will then be inclined to offer a gift card to keep you from cancelling your order. It only works when you have a legimiate complaint. Bascially, Dell will give out gift cards to keep their customers.

Recieved my new replacement(new build)but it came with a 7200 rpm vs. 5400,i understand it's running faster and you get those sounds from it because it's reading it quicker but it's a little annoying,do you get use to it or should i get my 5400 back.

i would say try the new hard drive for a couple of days and see if there you notice a performance increase. Unless you are doing demanding tasks I would ask for the 5400 back

so you didn't actually ask for a 7200rpm hd? if you don't want it you should complain about having a faster hard drive and tell them you're not happy about this and have them send you $100 gift cards =D

Let me ask this,if i tell them i want a 5400 hd instead of his 7200 will they just send me a new hd or will they have to send me another notebook,if it means a new notebook i dont know that i can be as patient enough like i was waiting for this one.

I think that they would just send you the Hard drive and give you instructions to install it yourself cause it's pretty easy to do. If not then you could request that.
