After receiving my 9400 and hearing what everyone else is saying about it, I've come up with the "sweet spot" in specs for those looking to purchase one. I think this configuration should yield the best price/performance ratio. You should be able to find this between $1700 and $2200 US depending on coupons/deals. Obviously, you would have your own needs/wants, but this isn't a bad starting point:

    1.83GHz Core Duo
    80-100GB 5400 HD
    1GB 667 DDR2 Ram
    17" with TruLife (1920x1200)
    GeForce 7800 Go 256MB
    8x DVD Burner (hopefully NEC)
    9 Cell 80WHr Battery
    Media Centre 2005 OS + Backup CD's
    Intel a/b/g Wifi (Centrino)
    Bluetooth
    1 or 2 year warranty

    Some worthwhile accessories:
    Backpack Carrying Case
Carbon Fibre / Natural Leather cover
Media Centre Remote (tv tuner optional)

Hmm....display is kind of controversial. Some rather have the matte finish and some would be more inclined towards the glossy finish. That's the only spec I would see most people can't agree upon since it really depends on personal preferences. Everything else seems to fall under what most people order.
