To the Wise Sages on this board...

I would like to ask for your recommendations on the maximum system restore disk usage allocation. Right now, by default, it is set to 8.486 GB, but considering that I am tight with HD space, I was wondering what would be an appropriate size.

My HD Size is 64 GB
Currently Free: 38 GB and change

    Thanks!

If you are really tight on HD space, it's better to set the size to 200MB (lowest possible).

Upgrading your hard drive might be an option.

If you have 38GB free why are you worried about SR using 8.5GB? While you have it free you may as well use and then worry about shrinking it when you need to.

How much space you want it to use depends on how many options you want when going back in time. If SR is using the full allocation open System Restore and see how many restore points it has saved. If you would be happy with half that number then halve the allocation, etc.

Not an option right now - 128 GB SSDs are waay to expensive so I have to "settle" for a 64 GB SSD.

    Steve,

Thanks for the advice. I just thought that reducing my system restore shadow copies size would help my preventing me from having to delete them once a week. I guess however that what you are saying makes sense. I will just leave it as is, and when space becomes too valuable of a resource, think about reducing the size.
