Hey everyone...wanted to post my situation in hopes that somebody has a suggestion.

My Dell Inspiron 630m decided to not turn on last week for some reason. Thinkin it maybe just be the battery, I tried plugging it in with AC adapter and it still wont start. Since neither method is working, Im assuming it might be something wrong with the motherboard...

Im in a bit of a rush with semester papers due and need to get some files so rather than just "leaving it" with the local Dell technicians... i bought an external IDE notebook enclosure, removed the harddrive from the laptop, and put it in the enclosure.

Ive connected it to another PC and can access the hard drive...BUT for some reason I cant access the folder that contains all my personal files (the folder is the username I always logged into my laptop with, so its the administrator profile). I can access all other folders except my personal one. A message comes up saying access denied and when i scroll the mouse over the folder, it claims its empty. I cant figure ouit how to access this folder.

Anbody have suggestions/thoughts before taking it to the technicians who are going to overcharge me (theyve tried before  ) ?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.
