I just purchased a new dell laptop. I was hoping to add memory from my old laptop to my new one? Is this a good idea? According to the dell site, I need something that is 133 speed. The memory in my old laptop is 100. Please advise and thanks in advance

Search for each type of memory and then compare them.
Your memory is only as fast as the slowest component. -
so to be clear, i can use PC100 memory in a PC133 computer. thanks in advance

Hi Asianwash,
You should get new memory that is designed for the new system. Using old /slow memory, if it works it will at best cost you a 25% slowdown in you system memory functions and overall system performance and at worst will cause system instability and random crashes and data loss.
My advice is that using old/slow memory is a bad and possibly costly idea, when you consider how cheap ram is and the time involved in restoring your notebook data and setup if you have a bad memory crash.
