hi, first time poster here :D i'm not entirely sure where this should go so i apologize in advance if its in the wrong section of the forum.

i recently got a e1705 laptop from dell and i reformatted the hardrive to get rid of all of the preinstalled @#%#. however after i finish reformating and installing windows, whenever the laptop boots up, it would show that there is 2 windows xp home installed on my computer and it would make me select which one to boot from.

one of them is the newly installed XP that i just did, but the other one is just... broken/empty/etc. is there any way to get rid of the 2nd OS so that the lappie can just directly boot into windows instead of the whole "select-something-or-wait-25-seconds-and-we'll-boot-in" config?

and i just want to say that i'm not a complete computer noob :p i've formatted and built a few computers in the past, but i've never had this problem. plus when i boot into the windows setup from the windows cd, i can only find one OS.

any help would be appreciated

There is a sticky reformatting thread you can visit in the Dell section.
