    do most people reformat when they get a new laptop? why? im afraid ill lose programs i might need. like if i got the sound audigy software with my e1505, will it erase it and i will have wasted that money? do i have to reformat?

    Yes, it is recommended that you reformat when you get a computer from dell, at least when you get an inspiron, as they are usually loaded with junk. The soundblaster software should include a CD, so you can reinstall it. Check out SouthernGirl's guide--it's excellent and stickied on the top of the Dell forum. If you didnt' get the reinstall disks from Dell when you ordered, you'll need to request them. There really aren't any useful programs installed on a Dell when you get it, you might want to also request the sonic CD and the driver's CD, but the most up to date drivers are located on Dell's website.

    hmm considering im not that tech savy i dont think im gona reformat...i dont wanna install everything over again and i think it'd screw sometrhing up or miss out on some programs. anyone know how to get to the task manager? i click ctrl alt backspace and it doesnt work?

    also another dumb question...i got a notice on dell support that said they are recalling batteries and i should check to see if i need to turn mine in...since i just got mine im assuming this does not apply to me, right?

    you can also do ctrl+shift+esc to bring up the task manager.
