I was reading SouthernGirl's guide about reformatting, it seems rather lengthy but nonetheless, very good info.

My question is could I just download a program to save/backup all the drivers burn to CD/jumpdrive. Then partition, reformat, reinstall, all that good stuff. Then load in all the drivers again? It seems a lot faster than going through the Dell site. If this is a working method can someone suggest me a driver backup tool? I can use WinDriver Ghost, but if there's something better I'd like to try it.

You can just save the folder that your drivers are located in. All of the drivers are located in C:\Drivers. Save that folder to a jump drive. Reformat. Then place the folder back on your C: drive. Most of the drivers will self install, but always check the device manager to make sure that all of the devices have a matching driver. If any devices do not have a driver, right click on them and tell it to update driver. It should find the driver.

There is no need to download software to do it. The only problem with this method is that your drivers might not be update.

And the guide is lengthy because I wrote it so that if you have never formatted before, you would be able to do it. If you've reformatted before, most of it would be repeat information.
